Manila Multipurpose Terminal (MMT), led by Phillip Marsham, executive director, participated in the World Breakbulk Expo (WBX) Conference in Shanghai, China, from 25 to 27 March 2024.

MMT engaged with shippers and vessel principals on the sidelines of the conference to promote MMT’s Ideal Vessel Requirements (IVR) campaign, which highlights opportunities to optimize logistics best practices, strengthen cargo handling procedures, and achieve quality and safety standards within the terminal.

Launched in 2022, the IVR campaign aims to standardize operations and establish a foundation for logistical efficiency throughout the entire shipping process, from origin to receiving ports. Proper cargo load distribution, packing, marking and stowage are key aspects of the campaign, which helps reduce the risk of demurrage and detention expenses for vessels.

Discussions on the IVR campaign in China are expected to positively impact MMT’s future logistics activities. MMT looks to increase cargo handling output, decrease turnaround times, lower costs, prevent incidents, and eliminate rework and failures. Implementing these improvements will streamline cargo discharging and delivery, ultimately strengthening client relationships and loyalty.

MMT extends its sincere appreciation to Aris Shipping, Chun An Shipping, Hong Glory, and Shanghai International Port Group for their time and hospitality during the courtesy visit.
