Manila Multipurpose Terminal kicked off its basic forklift operations training course from 16 April to 9 May as part of the company’s commitment to safety and productivity.

Spearheaded by Rodel Regino, International Container Terminal Services, Inc. (ICTSI) training superintendent, the training combined classroom sessions, safety lectures, practical exercises, hands-on equipment operation, actual and written trade testing, and training validation.

Prior to the start of the training, participants underwent rigorous assessment and pre-qualification processes to ensure they meet the training requirements. The course tackled several critical elements such as yard area awareness, proper coordination and hand signal communication, to help ensure a safe environment for dock workers.

Integral to the training regimen are equipment familiarization and adherence to safety operational procedures. It covered topics ranging from forklift controls to material leveling, stockpiling, maneuvering and unloading of cargo with various shapes and sizes, providing participants with comprehensive insights on forklift operations. The training also enabled participants to gain a thorough understanding of forklift carrying capacity for safe and efficient operation.

MMT is committed to continuously carry out the necessary training for its personnel to achieve the required level of competence and maximize their operational performance.
